André Mazo
André Mazo was born in the South of France in 1952. He was raised in California by his French and Italian parents. André Mazo is a self-taught artist. As a young boy, he was inspired by numerous trips to the countryside of France. In the countryside, he began painting and drawing with the local artists in various villages. He soon began to experiment and create art on his own.
In California, he continued his painting and American cultural influences from cinema and advertising to architecture and interior design eventually helped shape his mature artistic style. Still, Mazo’s rich colors, textures, and subjects are reminiscent of the beautiful Mediterranean countryside where he grew up. His favorite subjects include nature, architecture, and detailed still life paintings. Mazo’s past in the small villages of southern France continue to inspire him today. From those humble beginnings, Mazo’s originals now are included in private collections of both American and international collectors.
