Southern California native Charlie Carter never strays too far away from the ocean. Born in the late Eighties, he is an artist who loves to surf, and has always been immersed in the beach culture. Carter’s works, and his life, are always influenced by the power and beauty of the ocean. In his early twenties, he balanced his love of the coastal outdoors with attending an art academy that taught him to become an accomplished painter. Carter’s style is organized, but with fluid collage ensembles that reflects the freedom and creativity of the beach lifestyle. His current work uses shape and color in a balanced abstract structure. Visual interest is then created with the addition of recognizable motifs that transport the viewer to the warmth of the beach environment. Carter has grown into a serious artist, but his work maintains a certain youthful playfulness and freedom, and that next great wave is always just on the horizon.
